Tonkin

Tonkin was founded in 1955 by Berwick (Skip) Tonkin, establishing itself as a specialist in stormwater engineering with the development of Australia’s first stormwater modelling computer application.

A reputation for engineering advancement and cutting-edge technology has been a constant thread throughout our history, and has seen the company diversify into traffic engineering, environmental engineering, water engineering, spatial consulting and asset management.

Opportunities to expand through mergers and acquisitions have taken Tonkin into many new markets. After humble beginnings as a home business, Tonkin has grown to become an accomplished consultancy with a national footprint.

In recent times, Tonkin has been involved in a variety of landmark projects including a world-class motor sport facility at Tailem Bend and an important upgrade of the Kangaroo Island airport, South Australia’s first carbon offset project.

We are continually learning, diversifying and taking on new challenges as we provide our clients with imaginative and dependable solutions.

Building exceptional outcomes together.
