Opportunities

 

Design Drafter – Permanent or Contract

Due to a healthy period of growth within our business we are seeking a professional drafter with proven ability to “hit the ground running”. To be successful in this role you will be an experienced design drafter looking for an opportunity that will utilise your diverse experience in a range of civil infrastructure and water related projects.


As a highly experienced design drafter you must possess extensive knowledge and use of AutoCad. Working knowledge of MX would also be desirable, though not essential. Your work history might include a range of design drafting for various water and civil projects, such as:
o Land developments
o Roads
o Pipelines
o Wastewater and water reuse schemes
o Stormwater
o Landfills

Your most recent work history would include a background working within a consulting, public sector or construction environment where you have utilised your passion for design drafting.

While embracing the challenges of contributing your design skills to projects it’s your collaboration and ability to build trust, engage positively and contribute to ensuring project outcomes and deadlines are met that would make you unique.

You will contribute to a close knit and highly experienced group of technical officers who work in close interaction and collaboration with our engineers.


Transport/Traffic Planner

As an experienced Traffic Engineer or Transport Planner we’ll encourage you to respond to market demands to ease pressure on arterial roads while intelligently integrating traffic, transport and land use planning strategies.

You could be strategically focussed, delivering quality, innovative solutions in either traffic planning or transport land use. Equally you might posses a strong technical orientation with a passion and experience in transport modelling.

Either way Tonkin will give you control of your own destiny. This is your chance to make an impact on the wider community, our business and our people.

Water/Wastewater Water Systems Planner

If you have a passion for hydraulic modelling and planning of large and small scale water supply/wastewater networks you could be the person we are looking for. You may also have used a variety of water modelling packages to undertake a range of tasks which might have included: conducting water hammer analysis or modelling of water quality issues.

To succeed in this specialist role you would have successfully undertaken strategic planning of water and wastewater systems. You would enjoy the technical challenges of modelling water supply networks and the opportunity to work directly with clients on project design and delivery. Potentially you might come from a water utility or consulting background.

You would express ideas clearly and succinctly and possess a highly collaborative personal style that builds the trust and confidence of clients, peers and team members alike.

Civil Environmental Engineer/Project Manager

In response to market demands our Environmental team is seeking an additional Civil/Environmental Specialist to meet the growing needs of our environmentally conscious community .

You will be an experienced Civil/Environmental Engineer as a Project Manager with demonstrated success (4 years +) and proven expertise managing the delivery of multiple or single, large environmental projects on time, within budget and to client satisfaction.

You mostly likely to have come from a background working within a consulting, public sector or construction environment and have a passion for managing scoping, development and delivery of projects with inputs for multidisciplinary teams.

You would have demonstrated experience in project design (civil infrastructure or land development) as well as familiarity with statutory approval processes.

You will be a strong communicator, highly consultative in style, you will command respect by the calm, firm and credible manner you present when dealing with regulators, stakeholders and peers.

Civil Engineers – Water

We are looking for a number of experienced civil engineers who are highly consultative in approach but possess a strong results orientation and client focus that has ensured success seeing projects through to completion.

If you flourish in a fast paced environment which appreciates the importance of attention to detail and enables you to remain technically “hands on” while working on project design and delivery to achieve outstanding results for your clients we want to hear from you.

You would have demonstrated success managing projects from concept through to detailed design and construction as well as strong written communication and interpersonal skills. Most likely you would come from a consulting environment.

Stormwater Engineer

With an increased focus on securing the water needs of our community, our water group is experiencing significant demand for their expertise and innovative approach to maximising opportunities for the reuse of precious water resources through the management of stormwater.

If you enjoy the technical challenges of developing stormwater solutions and the opportunity to work directly with clients on project design and delivery you could be just the person we are looking for.

You would possess an understated confidence and ease liaising with clients and be eager to take responsibility to deliver design outcomes that meet client requirements and timeframes.

You may be highly experienced and considered an expert in your field but realise now is the time to seek new challenges which will reignite your passion for stormwater and provide an environment where you can truly influence outcomes.

You would have demonstrated experience working in the stormwater field and mostly likely come from a consulting background.

The successful person will experience a team culture which is based on a highly consultative, knowledge sharing framework that truly supports and encourages balance in work/life commitments.

Darwin

Our recently opened Darwin office is making a real impact in the local environment. We are currently seeking self starters to make their mark and grow with the business.

Spatial Business Developer/Consultant

An opportunity exists for a committed and achievement orientated individual to join Tonkin Consulting’s award winning Spatial Services Team.
As a Pitney Bowes Business Insight (PBBI) partner, the team is focussed on continuing to develop and increase their market footprint by providing innovative spatial solutions to commercial and public sector environments.

We are seeking an individual with demonstrated experience and knowledge of spatial technologies, GIS or IT related environments, who is ready to get out from behind the desk and take on a new challenge. You may be looking for an opportunity to redirect your career and utilise your existing skills in a role with a strong client focus which enables you to develop innovative solutions while building lasting and positive client relationships. You would have gained an extensive knowledge of public sector and/or commercial environments. Specific experience and knowledge of the NT public sector would be highly valued though not essential. Your ability to genuinely listen will complement your technical knowledge. It’s your ability to take on board the ideas and thoughts of your clients and your team that will make you unique. You would grab the opportunity and gain satisfaction from being able to truly influence and assist your clients to unlock and fully utilise information stored in their data base.
Alternatively, you may already have achieved success providing customised solutions within a spatial or IT software related environment. Your selling style would be highly consultative utilising your proven ability to problem solve and think laterally when tailoring solutions to meet your client’s needs. Your responsibilities may have included account management including renewals and administrative management. You are now seeking to reignite your passion for sales in an environment that allows you the flexibility to determine client needs and develop solutions that will promote lasting and rewarding relationships.

Civil/Water Engineer

Are you looking to drive your career to the next level in managing and delivering larger projects? This role is a real opportunity to grow your experience and responsibility. This is a chance to work with our Darwin Manager to build and develop the business and team from the ground up. You would be given the opportunity to gain hands on experience at a level of work over and above what would normally be available in big corporate environments.

To succeed in this role, you would possess an understated confidence and ease liaising with clients in a business development capacity. Most recently, you would have completed a 2-3 year Graduate Development Program and be looking to seek new opportunities to work seriously on building your project experience.

You would have demonstrated consistent success managing small projects. Ideally you would have come from a Consulting or possibly Utility or Power background with experience in infrastructure planning and detail design.

Drafter

This is a unique opportunity to drive your career growth with the business. If you are a self starter who possesses a degree of confidence that enables you to work autonomously and “get things done” we want to hear from you.

You would have 2-3 years solid grounding and experience and be looking for an opportunity to now work seriously on building your career and increasing your design skills.

Equally, you might be highly experienced and seeking an opportunity to take on a new challenge and get in at the ground floor in the building of our Darwin office.

Your experience would include land developments, water, roads and possibly pump stations, if you have a mechanical background. You would possess a Diploma of Civil Engineering, however a Diploma in Mechanical engineering would be considered
